Kutani Covered Urn Signed Dai Nihon Kutani, Meiji Period The baluster body decorated in iron-red, gold and black, the opposing sides painted with a nobleman with attendants in a landscape, and a bird with grasshopper prey perched on a flowering branch beside the moon, each within a rectangular reserve formed by ho-o birds and paulowina blossoms, and within a floral shippo diaper field with fan reserves and scattered tomoye roundels, the removable domed top with similar floral shippo diaper pattern surmounted by a seated shishi.
