GALLERY/WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT 

Weschler’s, the top auction house for antiques & fine art in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, seeks a responsible, team-oriented, and driven full-time Gallery/Warehouse Assistant to work in our Rockville MD gallery. This role entails auction support as well as duties behind the scenes. We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious person who has an appetite to learn in a fast paced, arts focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and styling the gallery for auctions

• Assisting with pickups, previews, and events

• Unpacking, moving, packing, and conducting inventory of property

• Participating in fundamental tasks during auctions

• Answer general questions

• Assist in preventing theft by following security procedures

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree preferred

• Excellent customer services skills and desire to work with the public.

• Enthusiastic and calm under pressure, with a commonsense approach.

• Committed, reliable and capable of working well as part of a team.

• Fluency in English necessary.

• Ability and willingness to be flexible with working hours.

• Must be able to lift 35 to 50 lbs. and climb a ladder

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

INTERNSHIPS

Responsibilities

Interns will be asked to undertake a variety of tasks and projects throughout their time at Weschler’s including (but not limited to):
• Assist specialists in cataloguing inventory
• Research on specific works of art, artists, museums, etc.
• Managing libraries
• Working with the sale managers for exhibition set up
• Client service
• Administrative duties
• Specific projects as assigned by manager
• Content creation for social media
• Translation

Eligibility
• Applications are open for undergraduates as well as graduate-level students.
• International students enrolled in a US-based school are eligible to apply for the Internship. International students applying must have a valid CPT/OPT as Weschler’s cannot sponsor Internships

The standard hours are 9am to 4:45pm (Monday to Friday). Part-time hours will need to be discussed, and agreed upon, during the interview process.
