BEDOUIN CAMP AND ARAB CHIEFTAINS, AND NORTH AFRICAN CAMPSITE: TWO WORKS the second, signed Philip Evergood, l.l.; each also signed Philip Evergood on the reverse oil on board (2) Each: 10-1/2 x 8-1/2 in (26.6 x 21 cm) Two of the earliest examples of Evergood's works in oil, these small panel paintings, completed circa 1923, are strongly influenced by the work of Albert Pinkham Ryder who was a friend of Evergood's mother, Flora. Bedouin Camp and Arab Chieftains resembles Ryder's work The Mosque in the Desert at the Lyman Allyn Museum, and North African Campsite echoes Ryder's Pegasus at the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum.
