[Pennsylvania] Land Indenture Signed by Thomas Mifflin, the First Governor of the Commenwealth of Pennsylvania
One page on vellum manuscript, dated 23 May 1793 to Benjamin Rush, a noted Philadelphia physician and Surgeon General of the Continental Army, and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Reads in part: "... Benjamin Rush MD a certain tract of land called "Jefferson" situate on the South side of Towandane Creek in Northumberland or Luzerne County....Deed dated 6, November 1787 conveyed the same to Isaac Franks who by Deed endorsed dated 3, March 1792 conveyed the same to the said Benjamin Rush...his Heirs and assigns for ever, free and clear of all restrictions and reservations as to Mines Royalties Quit rents or otherwise excepting and reserving only the fifth part of all Gold and Silver Ore for the use of the Commonwealth to be delivered at the Pittsmouth clear of all charges..." Signed by Thomas Mifflin, the first Govenor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and James Trimble, the first Deputy Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
In good condition, with moderate storage folds, scattered creasing and wrinkling and some mild toning; archival linen hinged to verso.
