Pair of Japanese Wood Temple Guardian Figures (Koma Inu) Edo Period, 17th Century Each modeled seated on their haunches looking to one side, the male with its mouth open and the female with closed mouth. Each with cracks and traces of gesso and paint decoration. H of tallest: 13.75in 35cm Exhibited: Birmingham Museum of Art, Birmingham Alabama, 1957-1975, on loan by present owners.
