Japanese Black Lacquered Wood Bench Meiji Period Having an elaborately carved and pierced arched backrest with sinuous dragons in clouds, ho-o birds and mythological mask pediments, the downward scroll dragon arms above carved cloud band panels enclosing a hinged seat carved with two butterfly mons over a deep inset panel skirt carved with cresting waves raised on mythological animal mask and paw legs joined by a pierced cloud band centering a mask pediment, above a blocked platform base raised on short bracket feet. some abrasions to lower section and each arm reinforced.
