This work was part of the private collection of Joseph Harrison, Jr. and is listed in the exhibition catalogue of his collection: Catalogue of Pictures, Statuary and Bronzes in the Gallery of the Late Joseph Harrison, Jr., Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia, 1874, no. 180. It is noted as being painted from a miniature.
