An American Pieced and Appliqued Baltimore album quilt Baltimore Maryland Dated 1842, 1846 and 1851 Hand worked in calico and solid pieces of cotton in shades of red, green, yellow, purple and gold and chintz cut-outs on a cream ground, arranged in twenty-three signed and two unsigned squares with floral and pictorial motifs including baskets of flowers, floral and foliate wreaths, stylized blossoms, grapevine wreath, and two doves perched on a cup within a foliate wreath enclosing a pen and ink statement, Friendship offering/This is Friendships offering whose/silent eloquence more rich than words/speaks of the givers faith and truth/in absence and says Forget me not/Elias Brunner/From/[L]etticia R Allen all enclosed within a tan chintz border.
