Chinese Export Gilt Decorated Black Lacquer Cabinet-on-Stand
Late 19th Century
In three parts; the upper section having a removable cornice above two panel doors opening to view an arrangement of drawers flanking two panels doors, one with mirror; the central section having a long drawer with slanting writing surface below two hinged doors opening horizontally to reveal a cavity; the base raised on four turned legs; overall with gilt chinoiserie decoration. Some losses to ivory knobs; some cracks to lacquer.

As noted in catalouge; crack along back of case and at back at top left; losses to lacquer along back edges, especially to right side of case; some losses to lacquer at bottom left of case and to back left leg; cracks to tops of central section and losses to decoration; repairs to finial; wear to gilt decoration of front right leg; some cracking and lifting to lacquer on side of panel doors and below top edge of base; lacking 6 ivory knobs to interior drawers; glue residue to one interior niche; crack to top of base.
