Indo-Portuguese Baroque Style Partial Ebonized Ebony and Mahogany Stained Satinwood Slant-Front Bureau
Probably Goa, 18th-19th Century
The fall-front writing lid opening to view a concave and serpentine architectural amphitheater with a central double-concave raised panel prospect door enclosing two pigeonholes and a concave drawer flanked by two document drawers and an arrangement of six pigeonholes and nine drawers over a sliding-panel well compartment. Possibly originated with an upper section; brass tear-drop pulls probably original; feet probably replaced; various chips and wear to ebonized decoration; ebonized decoration of a later date; one side handle broken.
